It is also a symbol of Palestinian identity and a constant reminder of the injustices that have been inflicted upon the Palestinian people. The city has been the subject of many conflicts throughout history, with various empires and powers vying for control over it.
The current conflict between Israel and Palestine is centered around Jerusalem, with both sides claiming it as their capital. Israel has controlled the western part of the city since 1948, while the eastern part was captured by Israel in the 1967 war and is now home to over 300,000 Israeli settlers. The Palestinian Authority claims that the eastern part of Jerusalem is the capital of a future Palestinian state.
The ongoing conflict has led to countless human rights violations, including the displacement of Palestinians from their homes, the destruction of their property, and the use of excessive force by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians. We must also continue to advocate for the preservation of Jerusalem's religious and cultural heritage and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
